This photo was made during our trip to Siem Reap last summer. After visiting the temple complex of Angkor Wat, we returned to Sofitel Angkor Phokeethra and the image of newly bloomed lotuses floating gently over a bowl of water immediately captured our eyes. It felt so calm, peaceful and tranquil. In both Hinduism and Buddhism, the lotus is considered a sacred flower. It symbolises for both purity and serenity, and it is often used as the seat of Buddha and many Hindu deities.
