The magnificent peaks of Mount Parnassus.
Set among the high mountains, the Delphi Sanctuary was known to ancient Greeks as the world's center, where they sought prophecies from the Oracle.

The heart of the sanctuary. It's here that the Oracle delivered Apollo's prophecies.

The original temple was devastated. All that remains today are six broken honey-colored Doric columns and a stone foundation dating to 330 BC.
Below were the treasuries that held votive objects to Apollo from various city-states.

Overlooking the temple is an ancient theater with a capacity of 4.500 spectators.

Together with the nearby stadium, it served as a venue for contests at the pan-Hellenic Pythian Games - second only to the Ancient Olympic Games.

An elegant circular structure that has become an icon of Delphi.

Dating to around 380 BC, it originally consisted of two concentric rings of marble columns. It was presumably used to worship the Goddess Athena.
It shares the immediate site with ancient temples, treasuries, and a gymnasium.

It showcases Delphi's history through thousands of priceless discoveries.

Votive objects, inscriptions, architectural elements, and sculptures are on display.
Yet the most striking exhibit is the Charioteer of Delphi - an exquisite bronze statue unearthed in 1896.
